Cubano Raised in the U.S. Explains Preference for Latina Partners Over "Gringas"

A Cuban raised in the United States has entered the lively debate on identity and relationships within the Latino diaspora on TikTok, sharing a video where he expresses his preference for Latina women over "gringas."

The creator, known as @marcosfromthe305, emphasizes that shared culture and language are non-negotiable factors when choosing a partner, despite having spent much of his life in the U.S.

"In the end, a Latino should be with a Latino; that culture just doesn't work," he declares in the brief clip, also highlighting the "spark" and strength he admires in Latina women.

This Cuban-American delves deeper than mere personal attraction, arguing for the importance of passing the language to future generations. "My culture is very important. Being able to speak Spanish with the person I'm with is crucial," he asserts, adding his desire for Spanish to be his children's first language.

His stance is concisely captured in a straightforward statement: "Latinos with Latinos, that's what I think, that's my opinion."

The video joins a larger conversation on intercultural relationships that has sparked debate on TikTok in recent weeks, particularly among Cubans and other Latinos living in the U.S.

Recently, a Cuban user identified as @ivanperezdiaz0 shared a video praising Cuban women, garnering over 103,100 views and 9,540 likes in less than 24 hours, with statements like "the Cuban woman is a boss who likes to live well."

Just days earlier, a Cuban woman went viral after discussing her cultural clashes while living with her American partner, particularly around food—highlighting the peanut butter and jelly sandwich—with the remark "these people don't eat properly."

Another recent video by a Cuban in Miami on the challenges of finding a healthy relationship in the city surpassed 192,000 views and drew more than 1,600 comments.

This discussion isn't new: back in April 2025, another Latino admitted on TikTok his preference for Cuban women, sparking a similar conversation with thousands of views.

These accounts reflect, through personal experiences, the tension between integrating into American society and maintaining elements of one's original identity, such as language, family values, and culture. TikTok has emerged as a platform where members of the Cuban diaspora share and discuss these experiences.
