This update was provided on Sunday by CUPET via their official Facebook page, where they also mentioned that the repair work at the intersection of Tulipán and Oeste streets in the Plaza de la Revolución municipality has been completed.
"The accident resulted in six workers being injured. Four have received medical attention and are now at home, while two remain hospitalized but are not in danger," the company clarified.
The latest information brings the total number of affected workers to six. Initially, on Saturday, it was reported that five workers from the Empresa de Gas Manufacturado were injured, none of whom were in life-threatening condition.
The incident took place on the afternoon of September 26 when a state company crew was engaged in repair work on a gas leak affecting supply in the area. According to available information, the fire started during heavy machinery excavation on the public street. The Fire Department managed to contain the blaze, preventing it from spreading to the surrounding residential area.
CUPET announced on Sunday that the work at Tulipán and Oeste has been completed, and gas service has been restored to affected customers.
