Miami-Dade County Supervisor of Elections, Alina Garcia, in collaboration with Farm Share and Doral Mayor Christi Fraga, has announced a free food distribution event for local families. This event is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, September 15, starting at 9 a.m.
The distribution will be held at the main office of the Supervisor of Elections, located at 2700 NW 87th Avenue, Doral, FL 33172, and will continue until all available supplies are exhausted.
Food will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis, completely free of charge, with no income requirements or documentation needed to participate.
Vehicles are advised to enter the distribution line through Doral Central Park, with access from NW 92nd Avenue, where participants will be directed to the pickup point.
Community Efforts and Support
In addition to Farm Share and Mayor Fraga, representatives from the Doral Police Department, the city's Parks and Recreation Department, and the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office will also be involved in the operation.
The event coincides with National Voter Registration Day, which in 2026 falls on September 15. The Supervisor of Elections' Office plans to use this opportunity to share electoral information and encourage eligible citizens to register to vote.

Addressing Food Insecurity in Miami-Dade
Farm Share, Florida's largest independent food bank, was founded in 1991 and operates in all 67 counties of the state, rescuing agricultural surpluses to distribute them freely to families in need.
The social context surrounding the event is significant: as of 2022, 27.4% of children in Miami-Dade live in food-insecure households, with approximately 287,650 minors in South Florida struggling to access adequate nutrition.

Alina Garcia, a Cuban-American, was elected as Miami-Dade's Supervisor of Elections in November 2024 with 56% of the votes, a position created in 2018 following the approval of Florida's Amendment 10.
