Cuban Comedian Dares to Get a Smile Makeover in Cuba: Here's What Happened

The Cuban makeup artist and comedian, known as @carlos_makeup_comedy on TikTok, recently shared his journey of undergoing a smile makeover in Cuba. With his trademark humor, he showcased the transformation with before-and-after shots of the procedure.

In a video posted on Monday, Carlos recounted his decision to trust "Dr. Darién" with the treatment, describing him as his most trusted dentist: "I chose Dr. Darién to do this procedure because he's the one who's extracted the most cavities for me."

Although Dr. Darién also practices in Valencia, Venezuela, Carlos seized the opportunity to get the work done while the dentist was in Cuba: "I had to take advantage of him being here because he also does these procedures in Valencia, Venezuela, but I can't catch him there."

The entire smile makeover took eight hours in the dental chair, highlighting the intricate nature of such comprehensive dental work.

Regarding the outcome, Carlos was clear about his aesthetic choices: "Obviously, I wasn’t going to choose a fluorescent white, and he wouldn't allow it either," opting instead for a natural shade.

With his typical comedic flair, Carlos teased his audience about the results: "You better watch who does your smile makeover; if you didn’t like me toothless, now get ready."

The video is part of a growing trend among Cubans who are documenting their experiences with cosmetic dental procedures on social media, with results ranging from successful transformations to cautionary tales.

Back in November 2025, a Cuban woman shared a negative experience after her resin smile makeover damaged her natural teeth. More recently, in mid-August, another woman ended up in the emergency room post-procedure, with a companion warning that her teeth didn't require such work.

A smile makeover can involve resin or porcelain veneers, teeth whitening, gum adjustments, and prior digital simulations. Risks associated with poorly executed procedures include dental sensitivity, irreversible enamel wear, and, in severe cases, the necessity for root canals.

In Cuba, both public healthcare institutions and private practices offer dental aesthetics, with many professionals balancing their work on the island with practices abroad.

Carlos’s video, which has amassed over 75,000 views, has reignited discussions among his followers about the secrets behind perfect smiles and the meticulous care these treatments demand.
