Authorities in Guantánamo have apprehended two siblings accused of orchestrating a theft at a store specialized in selling maternity items, following a nighttime heist involving perfumes, soaps, powders, and other goods.
The pro-government outlet "Guantánamo and its Truth" reported on Friday that the break-in took place at "La Beba" Shopping Center, situated on Aguilera Street, nestled between Moncada and Agramonte in Guantánamo city.
According to the report, the suspects bypassed the store's security measures, which included a guard, forcibly opened the establishment, and entered the premises.
Inside, they made off with perfumes, soaps, powders, and various items intended for the maternity kit module.
The report confirmed that investigative efforts led to the arrest of the two alleged culprits and the recovery of the stolen merchandise.
"Brothers by blood, now by cause," commented the official account regarding the detainees, whose identities remain undisclosed, with only censored images released to the public.
The publication emphasized that the stolen items had a "socially prioritized destination," earmarked for expectant mothers and their families, amid the challenges many Cubans face in accessing basic hygiene and personal care products.
