In August, five young adults aged 18 to 22 were treated at the Camilo Cienfuegos Provincial Hospital in Sancti Spíritus for intoxications linked to the consumption of the Shaka energy drink. One of the individuals was in critical condition and required mechanical ventilation.
This information was shared on Thursday by the Sancti Spíritus broadcaster through Vitral, in a report by journalist Yosdany Morejón, who referenced statements from Yaneisi Valdés Gutiérrez, the acting director of the hospital.
According to Valdés Gutiérrez, four of the patients experienced headaches, vomiting, sweating, and rapid heartbeat, while one young woman suffered a severe intoxication, arriving in a coma and needing mechanical ventilation for 24 hours.
