On Monday night, a group of six Cuban nationals was apprehended after they arrived by boat at Harvey Beach, situated in Coral Gardens, Montego Bay, within the St. James parish of Jamaica.
Local residents spotted the boat around 7:00 p.m. and promptly alerted the authorities, as reported by Radio Jamaica News. Responding to the call, the police detained the six migrants. Authorities then initiated a search operation, concerned that additional passengers might have evaded capture.
The detained individuals were handed over to immigration officials and formally charged with illegal entry into Jamaica the following day, according to IRIE FM.
Kauna McKenzie, the Director of Communications at the Passport, Immigration, and Citizenship Agency (PICA), verified that the six detainees are scheduled to appear in court soon. At this point, authorities have not disclosed their identities nor confirmed if any additional individuals from the boat have been located.

The six individuals detained this week are currently awaiting their court appearance to face charges of illegal entry.
