Milenita Opens Up About Her Childhood Home in Cuba: "The Source of So Much Bullying"

The Cuban content creator, Milenita, took to Instagram this Tuesday to share an emotional tour of the wooden house where she spent her childhood and teenage years in rural Cuba. This modest dwelling, as she noted, was the subject of ridicule for many years: "The little house where I spent my childhood and for which I was bullied all my life."

In the video, recorded alongside her mother, whom she affectionately calls "Mimi," Milenita takes viewers through each corner of the house. They explore the living room with its familiar trio of chairs, the room once belonging to her grandfather—now shared by the family dogs—the dish cabinet, and the bathroom where they bathed using a small bucket of water.

Milenita's mother shared the story of the home's construction in the clip: "This house was transported on a cart and brought here. That's why the water leaks in from the front; it was moved and placed here. As best as it could be, as my father managed."

It was Milenita's grandfather who initially built the home for his young family, and they lived there from when Milenita was 13 until around 2018 or 2019, when they moved to a newly built house next door.

A Cherished Collection

One of the most touching moments in the video is the exchange between Milenita and her mother about a collection of empty cans that the latter had kept with care. Her mother explained simply and revealingly that she gave the cans to neighborhood children to sell as raw materials, so they could "buy little things."

Looking to the future, Milenita shared her plans for the home: "We want to fix it up, replace all those fallen boards."

Having graduated in Medicine in Cuba and now pursuing nursing studies in the United States, Milenita concluded her post with a direct invitation to her followers: "Tell me if you ever lived in a house like this. Do you feel proud of having lived in such a place?"

The House as a Digital Icon

This isn't the first time the family's wooden house has taken center stage. In April 2025, a video of Milenita's reunion with her mother in Cuba sparked controversy due to the stark contrast between a rented car and the home's poor conditions. Milenita clarified that renting a car in Cuba is a logistical necessity, not a luxury, and noted that her mother now resides in the new house next door.

In March 2026, a similar video of Milenita showcasing the same home went viral and was met with widespread praise, solidifying the country house as a symbol of authenticity within her digital community.
