The Cuban singer-songwriter Liuba María Hevia has shared via Instagram that she will be performing a concert on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at the Grand Hall of the Ateneo de Madrid to introduce her latest album, "Almas Comunes."
The event is set to kick off at 8:00 PM at the venue located on Calle del Prado, 21. Tickets can be purchased through Entradium.com. The concert is organized by Espectáculos y Ediciones Back to Love, a company Hevia publicly thanked in her announcement.
In a reel posted on her social media, Hevia expressed her excitement: "On September 19 at 8:00 PM, I look forward to seeing you at the Ateneo de Madrid for the presentation of my new album Almas Comunes, a concert where I know I will pour my heart and soul."
A Beloved Project with Diverse Musical Influences
Describing the project with affection, the singer elaborated: "A cherished album with 11 original tracks. It has been a beautiful experience, and I am grateful to Espectáculos y Ediciones Back to Love and all the musicians involved in this project."
"Almas Comunes" marks Hevia's 26th album. The collection explores themes such as memory, migration, love, homeland, tenderness, dignity, and hope, creating musical bridges between traditional Cuban trova, Caribbean sounds, blues, country, classical music elements, and Asturian echoes.
Honoring a Musical Legacy
The announcement comes shortly after Hevia paid a heartfelt visit to the grave of Pablo Milanés in the Las Rozas cemetery, near the Cezanne Studios where she was working. "Nearly finishing my new album at Cezanne Studios, close to Las Rozas cemetery, I couldn't leave without visiting the resting place of one of Cuba's greatest composers and performers, to thank him once again for his legacy and to bid farewell," wrote Hevia on her social media.
The bond between Hevia and Milanés runs deep; it was the Fundación Pablo Milanés that supported the production of her debut album, "Coloreando la Esperanza," in 1993. Milanés passed away in November 2022 at 79 and was laid to rest in Las Rozas in a private family ceremony. Hevia also attended the first-anniversary commemoration of his death at Casa de América in November 2023.
A Rich Artistic Journey
Born in Havana on December 14, 1964, Hevia joined the Nueva Trova Movement in 1982 and has maintained a close artistic relationship with Spain, where she has held numerous concerts and musical projects. Her extensive discography spans trova, guajira, son, habanera, bolero, and tango, with significant works dedicated to children’s music.
In November 2024, she reunited with Cuban singer-songwriter Carlos Varela in Spain, aligning with their musical activities in the country.
The Grand Hall of the Ateneo de Madrid, the main auditorium of the landmark building inaugurated in 1884, seats over 340 people and stands as a cultural landmark in the Spanish capital.
For those unable to attend the September 19 concert, Hevia's journey can also be followed through her social media, where she maintains close contact with her audience. In June 2025, the singer publicly performed "Que Vivan los Estudiantes," reaffirming her commitment to social causes, particularly those related to Cuba.
"I look forward to seeing you there," Hevia concluded, with the simplicity that defines an artist whose voice has accompanied thousands of Cubans both on and off the island for decades.
