Jesús Arturo Blanco León, a Cuban social media personality known as "El Guajiro de TikTok" for his outspoken support of the Havana regime, is scheduled to appear this Thursday in a Florida court on charges related to driving under the influence (DUI).
The hearing is set for 3:00 p.m. at the Judge Lynn N. Silvertooth Judicial Center in Sarasota County. This pre-trial conference is part of case number 2026 CT 3602 NC, as reported by journalist Mario J. Pentón.
Pentón's investigation, which is based on records from the Sarasota County Police Department and Court, reveals that Blanco León was arrested on April 26 and charged with DUI, a misdemeanor under Florida law.
It's important to note that the arrest and charges do not equate to a conviction. The content creator maintains his presumption of innocence as long as the legal proceedings are ongoing.
Driving Irregularities Cited by Police
According to a police report referenced by Pentón, several driving irregularities caught an officer's attention before stopping Blanco León's vehicle.
The report indicates that Blanco León failed to obey a stop sign, drove at night without headlights or taillights, and moved erratically between lanes.
During the traffic stop, the officer noted that the Cuban's eyes appeared red and watery, and he smelled of alcohol. Additionally, he struggled to provide his driver's license, vehicle registration, and proof of insurance.
The judicial process will ultimately determine Blanco León's accountability regarding the accusations made by the authorities.
A Controversial Figure Among Cuban Exiles
This case has drawn significant attention within the Cuban community due to Blanco León's public persona. Since moving to the United States in 2016, he has become a controversial figure on TikTok, often clashing with opponents and critics of the Cuban government.
Despite living in the U.S. for nearly a decade, he frequently defends the Cuban government and criticizes sectors of the exile community during his broadcasts.
Blanco León is also known for his association with Sandro Castro, the grandson of Fidel Castro. On June 8, the two appeared together in a TikTok live stream where Sandro once again praised his grandfather's legacy.
In their discussion, Sandro referred to Fidel Castro as "the tank" and "La Piedra," the latter referencing the monolith marking his grave in Santiago de Cuba's Santa Ifigenia Cemetery. Sandro asserted that if his grandfather were still alive, U.S.-Cuba relations would not have deteriorated to their current state.
