Ehr introduced what he calls a "Comprehensive Plan for Cuba’s Freedom and Democratic Transition," a document outlining six key points. These range from legislative approval for military force to adopting the Cuban American National Foundation's 13-pillar roadmap as a framework for rebuilding Cuba post-regime.
"If Congress receives a credible and lawful mission, I will back decisive U.S. military action to topple the communist regime," stated Ehr in a press release from Miami.

"Carlos Giménez might entertain the notion of U.S. military intervention in Brazil, yet he hasn't proposed a serious plan or shown a clear commitment to act against the Cuban dictatorship," Ehr argued. "Why pretend toughness everywhere but where it truly matters for the people he claims to represent?"
Ehr clarified that his proposal is not a call for an impromptu war or a permanent occupation. "I'm not advocating for another hasty war, a symbolic strike, or a permanent U.S. occupation. I'm demanding a clear mission, legal authority, overwhelming capability, civilian protection, and a transition plan before any action begins," he explained.
The candidate also highlighted his personal history: during his first Navy mission, he participated in rescuing Cuban families in the Florida Straits. "Their bravery and stories have never left me," he shared.
The announcement coincides with heightened pressure from the Trump administration on the Cuban regime, with over 240 sanctions imposed since January 2026, including measures against the business conglomerate GAESA and Cuba's reclassification as a state sponsor of terrorism.
Meanwhile, the regime's rhetoric of resistance contrasts with the deteriorating conditions faced by the population. In June, Díaz-Canel conceded that "creative resistance is no longer enough," yet the Castroist leadership remains determined to cling to power as Cubans endure blackouts, shortages, and mass exodus.
"The communist regime cannot withstand the united determination of the Cuban people, the Cuban diaspora, and the United States of America. What has been missing is leadership with the courage to declare the mission, the strength to act, and the discipline to ensure peace," Ehr concluded.
