Eddy Ceballos' Wife Shares Heartfelt Video with Daughter: "Our Home Lacks Laughter Now"

Wednesday, August 12, 2026 by Oscar Guevara

Daniela Escarra, the wife of Cuban comedian Eddy Ceballos, shared a touching video this Tuesday that captures a tender moment between the creator of Despingovery Channel and his young daughter. The scene, recorded before his arrest, holds deep significance as he remains imprisoned for 71 days, with nearly five days passing without contact from him.

In the video posted on Instagram, Ceballos is seen sitting on a bed with his daughter Eddyth. As the child plays and bounces on the mattress, her father serenades her with "Bésame," a well-loved ballad by the Mexican band Camila.

This moment of everyday life and affection starkly contrasts with the current reality faced by the family, now overshadowed by the comedian's absence and the uncertainty surrounding his situation.

"Our home lacks laughter now. There are no more creations, no more music, no more daily noise. A husband is missing. A father is missing," Escarra wrote alongside the video.

She also revealed that she has had no news from him for nearly five days, heightening the family's worries.

"Five days without hearing his voice, without knowing his condition, without clear news, without any case updates," she lamented.

This communication blackout marks another hurdle faced by the family since Ceballos' arrest on June 1st.

The Arrest and Its Aftermath

Ceballos was taken into custody shortly after releasing a preview of a video where he explored an abandoned military site featuring Soviet missiles, radars, and Cold War-era bunkers.

Subsequently, Cuban prosecutors charged him with "revealing state security secrets," as defined in Article 116 of the Penal Code. The law imposes severe penalties for the gravest offenses, including lengthy prison sentences, life imprisonment, or even the death penalty.

From behind bars, Ceballos sent a letter on August 1st, denying the accusations against him. "I am an artist, not a spy," he declared, detailing the harsh conditions of his detention, such as food and water shortages.

Family's Struggle for Justice

The family has reported other concerning incidents during Ceballos' over two-month-long detention. In mid-June, his mother, Marieta Pérez Alfaro, claimed he had been physically assaulted in prison.

On July 11th, authorities blocked a scheduled family visit after moving him overnight to the State Security interrogation center known as 100 y Aldabó.

Three days later, during a brief encounter, his family noticed a significant physical decline and reported he had lost a considerable amount of weight.

Earlier, on July 20th, Escarra had already expressed the toll the arrest was taking on their family unit. "They are trying to break a family," she had asserted.

Now, the video of Ceballos singing to his daughter brings back memories of home before his arrest and highlights the impact of his imprisonment on those awaiting his return.

Escarra urged those following the case to keep the issue alive and prevent Ceballos' story from fading from public discourse.

"Let’s not let Eddy’s case die on social media. Share. Post. Talk about him. Mention his name. Make sure his story reaches more people," she implored.

"Because when a case stops being talked about, it's often forgotten. And we won’t allow Eddy to be forgotten," she added.

After 71 days behind bars, the comedian's wife concluded her message with a call for action, summarizing the anxiety of a family still seeking answers about his situation.

"We want answers. We want justice. We want his rights respected. And most importantly… we want Eddy home."
