Cuban Content Creator Reports Theft of EcoFlow and Electric Bike: "Hard-Earned Sacrifices Taken Away"

A young Cuban content creator shared a distressing incident on Friday, revealing that burglars broke into her Havana home during the early hours, while several people were inside. The thieves made off with an EcoFlow Delta 2 power station, an electric bicycle, and the house and vehicle keys.

Grett Argil took to Facebook to report the incident, explaining she decided to record a video after calming down and coming to terms with the situation.

"They robbed me," she began, detailing how they discovered the break-in had occurred without anyone noticing.

According to Argil, the electricity returned to her neighborhood around 11:00 PM and the house was secured at that time. Inside were Argil, her brother, her sister-in-law, and a friend.

Around 1:40 AM, her sister-in-law entered Argil's room to ask if she had gone out, as she found the front door "wide open."

Argil noted she had been awake but heard nothing unusual.

Initially, a quick check of the house didn't reveal anything missing. It wasn't until 7:00 AM, when her brother was getting ready for work, that they realized the EcoFlow Delta 2 and her sister-in-law's electric bike were gone.

"I can't explain the stress and the level of agitation my brother, sister-in-law, and I experienced," she recounted.

Argil emphasized the struggle for Cuban families to acquire such valuable equipment.

"These are valuable items, things that are hard to obtain," she expressed, lamenting how easily someone could just take them away.

Some advised her that, given the circumstances, it was fortunate none of the household members encountered the thief, as it could have led to a more dangerous situation.

Despite this, Argil found it difficult to accept the loss, considering how hard it had been to acquire those items.

Argil mentioned that they went to the police shortly after 7:00 AM, but officers did not arrive until after 5:00 PM, as they were reportedly handling another incident involving a deceased person.

By that time, a heavy rainstorm had washed away any potential evidence. This account of the police response is based solely on Argil's testimony.

She estimated the stolen electric bike is worth over $1,700, while the EcoFlow device costs more than $700.

Beyond their monetary value, Argil highlighted the significance of these devices in dealing with the everyday challenges in Cuba, particularly power outages and fuel shortages.

"These are sacrifices made to slightly improve life here. Having them taken away is one of the worst things that can happen," she lamented.

The incident was especially shocking for her, as she had never experienced anything like it before, nor could she recall similar events in her neighborhood.

"I'm still in shock that it happened, especially in my home and in the manner it did," she admitted.

Despite the setback, Argil expressed gratitude that no one in the household was harmed.

"I'm healthy and alive, which is what matters, but it really hurts," she said, thanking those who reached out with support after hearing about the theft.

This isn't the first recent report of equipment thefts aimed at combating power outages.

In February, a family in Cárdenas, Matanzas, reported a daytime break-in where several individuals took an EcoFlow station.

The victim claimed the thieves specifically targeted the equipment.

Days later, another case emerged in Amancio, Las Tunas, where a woman reported the theft of an AVA 150 motorcycle, an EcoFlow unit, and several motor parts.

In that instance, the victim also highlighted that the stolen items were hard-won through years of family effort and sacrifice.

Similar incidents have been reported in Havana, including a case in July 2025, where a delivery worker's bicycle was stolen while making a delivery in the El Canal neighborhood of the Cerro municipality.
