U.S. Marshals Offer Up to $50,000 for Crime Information

The United States Marshals Service (USMS) has unveiled a new cash reward initiative aimed at gathering intelligence on criminal activities in Washington D.C. This effort is part of the DC Safe & Beautiful Task Force, a federal initiative launched during the Trump administration to curb violence in the nation's capital.

According to an official announcement made by the USMS on social media, citizens supplying valuable information may receive rewards of up to $50,000, with the amount contingent on the type of crime reported.

The reward structure is tiered as follows: up to $2,500 for tips leading to the recovery of illegal firearms; up to $10,000 for information that results in the arrest and prosecution of individuals involved in violent crimes; and up to $50,000 for details that lead to the capture and conviction of homicide perpetrators.

This program also extends to intelligence regarding gang activities and drug trafficking.

How to Submit Tips

Reports can be submitted through three methods: by calling the 24-hour hotline at 1-877-WANTED2 (926-8332), via email at usmstips@usdoj.gov, or through the official USMS website.

The campaign's official flyer advises citizens: "Do not approach, confront, or try to apprehend any individual. Safely report information to authorities."

"Help make Washington D.C. safer," the USMS stated in their release. "Eligible tips can earn up to $50,000."

Program Background and Impact

Anonymity is an option for those reporting, but eligibility for rewards is subject to verification and additional program conditions.

The DC Safe & Beautiful Task Force was established by executive order from President Trump on March 27, 2025, as a response to rising crime rates in the federal capital. This multi-agency operation includes the USMS, FBI, National Guard, and other federal entities.

Since its inception, the task force has achieved over 16,000 arrests, confiscated more than 2,000 illegal weapons, detained approximately 100 gang members, and located 25 missing minors.

The Department of Justice's official 2026 statistics show significant reductions in major crime indicators in D.C.: homicides dropped by 50%, robberies by 42%, vehicle thefts by 60%, and overall crime decreased by 25% from the previous year.

This initiative is part of a broader strategy by the Trump administration to leverage financial incentives to engage citizens in crime-fighting efforts.

In recent weeks, the federal government has also initiated its largest offensive against the Jalisco New Generation Cartel, offering rewards totaling up to $102 million for eight leaders and associates of the organization.

In mid-July, the State Department announced a $10 million reward for information on three Russian hackers accused of data ransom attacks on critical infrastructure across 21 states.
