Today, she stands as the founder and CEO of A'Zul ABA Therapy, a Houston-based agency specializing in applied behavior analysis therapy for children with autism. Achieving the Luxury status on Airbnb, Zulema notes, is no small feat: "It's challenging. You have to meet many requirements to get in."
Despite her impressive real estate ventures, Zulema emphasizes her true passion. "My baby is the A'Zul ABA company I have in Houston. The properties are managed by others."
What truly drives her, she shares, is witnessing the progress of the children her agency serves. "When a parent expresses gratitude, when I sit down and see the progress charts for all the children—it's all worthwhile."
Zulema revealed that upon seeing a million dollars in her bank account for the first time, she felt no thrill. "I didn't feel anything. I just said, 'Oh, a million dollars,' and I kept working."
She admits that it took time and therapy to allow herself to indulge in material pleasures, like buying a luxury handbag, after experiencing scarcity in Cuba.
