Cuban Mother Missing After Family Tragedy in Havana

Lourdes Díaz Laudinot, a resident of Alamar, Havana, has been unreachable since Sunday, July 26. Her family issued an urgent call for help on social media following a devastating family tragedy that has left them distraught.

Nelvis Durruthy, Lourdes' cousin, took to Facebook with a heartfelt video, describing the situation as dire. "My family in Cuba is going through an incredibly difficult time. My cousin, Lourdes Díaz Laudinot, is missing, and no one has been able to find her," she stated tearfully.

Family Tragedy in Alamar

The disappearance coincided with the murder of Armando Lara, known as "El Kini," which also occurred in Alamar. According to a report by Univision 23 journalist Javier Díaz, it was the current husband of the children's mother who allegedly took Armando's life.

In her video, Nelvis addressed this tragic event, noting that it left two children without a father and endangered Lourdes' life. "The incident in which Armando El Kini lost his life is heartbreaking and tragic because two children are now fatherless. It also puts her life at risk, and we don’t know what’s happening," she expressed.

Concerns Over Lourdes' Safety

A communicator known as "Nio reporting a crime" shared more insights into the case. According to his sources, Lourdes is indeed the mother of Armando Lara's two children, who was allegedly stabbed by the woman’s current partner, Osneisi Torres, who is now on the run.

"Family members fear that Lourdes might be with Osneisi," Nio shared on Facebook. "Based on the information they have, Osneisi is originally from Pinar del Río, so there’s a possibility that they might be in that province. However, this information hasn’t been officially verified."

Additionally, Nio mentioned that Lourdes might be with her youngest child, Osneisi's son, although this detail wasn’t included in the information shared by Nelvis Durruthy.

Community Response and Lack of Official Protocols

The search notice circulated by Nelvis warns in bold letters: "HER LIFE IS IN DANGER." The family urges anyone with information to call 53 4004738 or reach out via WhatsApp at 59221268.

The Observatory of Gender at Alas Tensas (OGAT) has activated a search alert and is gathering information on the case. The organization has pointed out the lack of effective state protocols in Cuba for locating missing persons, as well as the absence of an official alert system equivalent to the AMBER Alert, forcing families to rely on social media and independent organizations.

This case is part of a broader pattern of violence that the Cuban regime refuses to acknowledge with official data. Just two days before Lourdes' disappearance was reported, two 19-year-olds were killed in a violent attack at Hanoi Park in the same area of Alamar, with no official statement from authorities.

Journalist Javier Díaz highlighted the recurring pattern: "Violence continues to escalate in Cuba, and the crisis brings out the worst in people. Every day we report new incidents where individuals choose to take justice into their own hands."

Independent observatories have recorded 37 femicides in Cuba in the first half of 2026 alone, nearly double the number recorded in the same period in 2025, with a total of 350 femicides from 2019 until June 2026. In 2025, OGAT documented 40 disappearances involving women, girls, and children on the island, six of whom were found dead.

Nelvis Durruthy concluded her plea with a heartfelt request: "Please keep Lourdes and our entire family in your prayers. We hold onto hope that we will find her safe and sound."
