In a heartwarming conclusion, Yureibys Torresilla, a well-known activist in Sancti Spíritus often referred to as "The Hero," successfully located the rightful owner of a backpack filled with cash he had discovered in his neighborhood. He returned the bag with all its contents untouched.
The owner, Maury, operates a small business directly across from Torresilla's residence on Independencia Street, number 203.
Torresilla shared the news of the reunion on his Facebook profile, posting a photo of himself with Maury, both holding the black backpack at the entrance to his home.
"It's a pleasure to return the backpack with all the money to its true owner, who, by the way, is an incredible human being helping elderly people in need at his sales point. Maury, it was an honor to return your backpack and your money," Torresilla wrote.
Earlier, the activist had posted about the discovery in an effort to find the owner.
The Mysterious Nike Backpack
The Nike backpack contained bundles of bills in denominations of 20, 50, 100, and 200 Cuban pesos, but lacked any identification inside.
To ensure the cash was returned to the genuine owner, Torresilla devised a verification process: he retained information about an object inside the backpack that only the true owner would recognize.
"There's something inside that whoever comes to claim it must describe," he noted in the comments of his post.

The approach seemed effective. Maury, who lives or works just a short distance from where the backpack was lost, apparently identified the object and retrieved his money.
