Claudia Artiles Vows to Donate Earnings from Criticism Over Venezuela Aid Donation

Thursday, July 2, 2026 by Mia Dominguez

Cuban influencer Claudia Artiles took to TikTok on Wednesday with a video addressing critics of her humanitarian aid donation to Venezuela's earthquake victims, declaring that any revenue from her response would also be directed to those in need.

Artiles and her partner, content creator Ultrack (Jorge Batista), contributed essential supplies including medicines, diapers, wipes, and thermometers for those affected by the June 24 quakes. These items were delivered to the Global Empowerment Mission warehouse in Doral, Florida. Their charitable act, captured and shared on social media, sparked backlash among some followers.

Influencer Defends Her Actions

In her TikTok video, Artiles expressed her frustration candidly. "As a content creator, of course I'm going to record it," she stated. "I started the video saying to follow to raise awareness; if you have nothing positive to say, just stay silent."

She further clarified the delay in posting the donation footage: "I had planned vacations, was at a hotel with my kids and partner, simply relaxing and not near home."

The Source of Her Philanthropy

Addressing the origins of her donation funds, Artiles was forthright: "When I return home and have time to shop, spend money, and donate, I do it because I feel compelled to. People support me, and through videos, I earn money. Why not use that money to benefit the community?"

To her detractors, she issued a challenge: "Go to Walmart, spend your money, and donate. If you don’t like it, then you do it, because you criticize everything, always have something negative to say, and never see the good."

Monetizing Criticism for Good

Artiles used TikTok's algorithm to her advantage, explaining: "TikTok pushes controversial content, so with your comment, I'll earn money to donate as well." She specified: "The money I make from your comments will be donated in diapers and wipes for Venezuelan babies, so keep commenting."

The earthquakes, with magnitudes of 7.2 and 7.5, struck Venezuela on June 24, marking the most severe seismic disaster in the country in over a century. As of Wednesday, official reports listed 2,295 fatalities, over 11,267 injuries, and more than 54,000 missing. The United States Geological Survey issued a Red Alert, projecting a 42% likelihood that the death toll could range from 10,000 to 100,000.

In response to the devastating situation, the Cuban community in South Florida has rallied in solidarity acts. Based in Doral, Global Empowerment Mission has become the primary logistical hub for U.S. humanitarian response, coordinating the transfer of approximately 235,000 pounds of donations and dispatching the first relief flight to Caracas.
