A chaotic confrontation between two families in the customs area at PortMiami resulted in 16 people being added to Carnival Cruise Line's "No Sail" list, according to a company spokesperson who spoke to Telemundo 51.
The incident took place on Monday as the Carnival Conquest was disembarking after a trip to the Bahamas.
The spokesperson explained that the scuffle erupted while passengers were navigating the U.S. Customs and Border Protection inspection process.
A video of the melee, shared by the OnlyInDade Instagram account, features multiple individuals shoving, kicking, and throwing punches amidst waiting lines, with luggage strewn across the floor. The chaotic scene also reportedly involved a minor.
Amidst the shouting and commotion, other passengers kept their distance, choosing to record the event with their cell phones.
Authorities from Customs and Border Protection intervened to restore order, and the Miami-Dade County Sheriff's Office responded to the situation as well. Thankfully, no serious injuries, hospitalizations, or arrests were reported.
Neither family opted to press charges against the other, as stated by the sheriff's office.
In direct response, Carnival enforced its conduct policy, banning all 16 individuals from their cruises.
"We do not tolerate such behavior. These individuals are free to find other cruise lines, but they are not welcome on our ships," stated the company spokesperson.
The "No Sail" list is shared across all of Carnival Corporation's brands, including Princess Cruises, Holland America, and others.
Those banned are notified through multiple channels and are denied boarding at the dock, even if they manage to make a reservation. Carnival's policy also includes fines of up to $500 for passengers whose behavior endangers the safety or well-being of others.
This is not the first incident of this nature. In April 2025, Carnival banned 24 passengers following a massive brawl at the port of Galveston, Texas, during the disembarkation of the Carnival Jubilee, which led to at least one arrest with criminal charges.
The footage from Monday's incident at PortMiami quickly went viral: the OnlyInDade post garnered over 10,700 reactions within hours, making it one of the most talked-about videos of the week on Miami-Dade's social media.
