The Cuban influencer Kristoff Kriollo woke up on Tuesday to the unexpected news that his Tesla had been repossessed due to missed payments.
In his characteristic lighthearted manner, the content creator shared the incident on his social media stories, saying, "Here I am at six-thirty in the morning, thinking I'm enjoying my Tesla, only to find out it's been towed because I haven't been paying for it."
Initially, Kristoff believed his car had been stolen while parked, but he soon realized the actual reason. "We thought it was stolen, which seemed odd as it was parked. But it turns out the issue was I hadn't paid for it," he admitted.
The influencer confessed he mistakenly assumed the financing payments were automatically processed like his insurance. "I thought the Tesla was on autopay, just like my insurance, but apparently not. I haven't paid for the car yet," he explained.
After checking his bank account, Kristoff discovered he hadn't made any payments for four to five months since purchasing the vehicle. "Looking through my bank, I see no payments for the Tesla. It's been four or five months since I got it, and I haven't paid," he noted.
The missed payments also impacted his credit score significantly. "My credit was at 700, and now it's down to 500," he acknowledged.
In his defense, Kristoff stated he never received any email alerts and ignored calls from unknown numbers. "I didn't get any emails. They might have called, but I never answer numbers I don't recognize," he said.
The situation is particularly ironic because back in February, Kristoff celebrated his first car purchase in the U.S., a financed Tesla for which he made a down payment of $4,600, after nearly three years living in Miami.
With a touch of humor, Kristoff admitted to the irony: "That's what I get for talking so much trash."
Kriollo, whose real name is Christopher Gómez, arrived in the United States in June 2023 and has been documenting his adaptation to life in Miami, gaining a loyal following on Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok.
Concluding his stories, the content creator mentioned he would wait for the offices to open to settle the situation: "I'll go see how much I need to pay."
