Cuban rapper Chocolate MC, whose real name is Yosvanis Sierra Hernández, is currently incarcerated at the Maximum Security Prison in McAlester, Oklahoma. He recently penned a handwritten letter to his sister, Isis Sierra, which she shared publicly on Instagram this past Sunday, accompanied by a heartfelt personal message that resonated with thousands of followers.

Life in Confinement: A Stark Reality

In his letter, Chocolate MC paints a vivid picture of the harsh conditions he endures, using words that leave no room for ambiguity: "Beneath the ground, in this subterranean cell, in a space that resembles a crypt more than anything, the bed feels like a grave and the inmates down here seem lifeless."

A Tribute to Family

Despite the grim environment, Chocolate MC takes the opportunity to commend his sister, acknowledging her as the cornerstone of their family: "You have become the HEAD of this family, steering it forward. Thank you for doing so, especially now that I am in this place, McAlester, Oklahoma, Maximum Security Prison."

The letter opens with a tender greeting: "Good Morning to the best Sister in the world," and continues with expressions of pride and love: "Today, I want to dedicate these lines to you, my Sister, just to remind you how proud I am of you, and how much I love you, CONGRATULATIONS!"

A Glimpse into Their Past

Isis Sierra accompanied her post with a poignant account of their childhood in Cuba, where they were raised by their mother as the sole provider.

"When my mom was raising us alone in Cuba, my brother and I would lay on the rooftop of our house to gaze at the stars. We were just two kids full of dreams, promising each other that one of us would succeed one day, and when that happened, we’d help the other," she wrote.

Isis acknowledged that her brother was the first to fulfill that promise: "When I was still in Cuba and he was already in the United States, I never lacked anything. He was always there for me. He always extended a helping hand. He was always a good brother."

Enduring Hidden Struggles

Isis also opened up about the silent pain she endures while maintaining a strong facade on social media: "People see me smiling online, see me building a business, growing, reaching goals… but they don’t see the battles I fight inside. They don’t hear my mom’s suffering. They don’t see the pain of watching him go through all this."

The Legal Battle and Sentencing

Chocolate MC was sentenced in March 2026 to 10 years in prison plus five years of probation after agreeing to a plea deal for direct threats against Damián Valdez Galloso, who was implicated in the murder of Cuban musician El Taiger.

In November 2025, a Miami jury found him guilty following the presentation of a video in which the rapper offered money to commission the murder of Galloso while he was detained.

In December of that year, Chocolate initially rejected a plea deal of 12 years in prison before eventually accepting the current sentence.

Isis Sierra concluded her post with a public vow to her brother: "Brother, I promise to fulfill our promise. When you get out, I will keep fighting until I become the businesswoman we dreamed I’d be. Because promises made under the stars are never broken."
