A young Cuban man known as César, affectionately nicknamed "Pingui," has been missing for nearly three weeks. His mother, Ludys Hernández, has turned to Facebook in a desperate plea for assistance in locating him.

"Good evening, I never imagined I would have to share this immense pain publicly," Ludys wrote in her heartfelt post. "My son's name is César, but everyone calls him Pingui. He has been missing for 19 days, and his last known location was in Guanabo just eight days ago. We have searched tirelessly by land and sea."

Guanabo, a coastal area within the municipality of East Havana, is where César was last reportedly seen. This location, historically known as a launch point for rafters and illegal migration attempts to Florida, adds another layer of concern to his disappearance.

In the photo shared by his mother, César is seen wearing a dark cap with a gold emblem and a burgundy t-shirt, appearing to be in his twenties or thirties. His exact age and a more detailed physical description remain unknown.

Growing Concern in the Community

This distressing situation was brought to light by a friend of the young man, who reached out to this outlet in hopes of spreading the word. "The mother is devastated; it's been too many days without any news. Please help us," the friend implored.

Ludys Hernández's post has also been circulated in the Facebook group "DESAPARECIDOS #SOSCuba," a grassroots platform dedicated to raising alerts about missing persons on the island, given the lack of state-run search mechanisms.

Systemic Challenges in Cuba

Cuba lacks an official public system for locating missing persons, forcing families to rely on social media and independent outlets to share their alerts.

César's case is not the only one shaking Havana recently. Mario Ariel Beceiro Hernández, a 21-year-old, was reported missing since May 26, with his motorcycle found abandoned in Los Pocitos, Marianao.

Additionally, as of last Tuesday, a 17-year-old Cuban girl has been missing for 19 days in Matanzas, according to reports. Another Cuban mother continues her desperate search for her son who disappeared in December 2025 in Havana.

Anyone with information regarding César's whereabouts is urged to contact his family at 55900533, 63620413, or 56121208.
