A Cuban resident of Lehigh Acres, Florida, known on TikTok as El Magnifico (@el.magnifico01), recently issued a warning to his community through a video after an attempted theft of his truck occurred at 12:15 AM last Saturday.
Visibly shaken, he recorded the video just an hour after the incident at 1:10 AM, aiming to alert his neighbors and fellow truck owners in the area.
"It's already 1:10 in the morning because I got a huge scare. At 12:15 at night, they tried to take my truck," he recounted in the video.
According to his narrative, he was asleep when the house's doorbell rang. Upon checking the cameras, he saw nothing, but he did notice the sound of a motorcycle passing by.
Moments later, the truck's alarm went off automatically.
"The truck's alarm went off. Thankfully, the truck is equipped with an alarm system. Thanks to that, the alarm went off, I ran out, and a motorcycle sped away next to the truck," he described.
In his attempt to chase them down in his car, he found it impossible; the suspected thieves fled at high speed, making it impossible to identify them.
Upon inspecting the vehicle, he found no visible damage, though he suspects an attempt was made to force open the door.
His message to fellow residents of Lehigh Acres was clear: "If you live in Lehigh, be extremely cautious, be very careful, because everything you have can be gone within seconds."
He also reflected on the hardship for a worker losing their primary tool: "This takes you through all you've gone through, the tremendous sacrifice, the hard work to obtain it, and you end up with nothing."
His wife advised him to see the silver lining: "As my wife said, be thankful. God knows you neither saw nor confronted anyone."
The video concluded with a pointed message to the perpetrator: "Focus on working, focus on fighting for yourself and your family, not on destroying the life of someone who works tirelessly."
Lehigh Acres, an unincorporated community in Lee County, southwestern Florida, has a growing Cuban immigrant population working independently in sectors like construction, transportation, and services.
