Defending His Actions

He stated that once he became aware of those family ties, he distanced himself: "When it became known, when I found out, I stepped away from you."
Mariela Cartagena Ortuski is alleged to be a cousin of "El Cangrejo," a nickname for Raúl Guillermo Rodríguez Castro, grandson of Raúl Castro and son of Déborah Castro Espín and General Luis Alberto Rodríguez López-Calleja, who led the military-business conglomerate GAESA until his death in July 2022.
El B also questioned the authenticity of the airport photo: "That little airport hug photo had to be staged by Mariela immediately. You know why. Because they were grilling you, saying, 'Hey, stop the nonsense, you left Albian stuck in Cuba.'"
