María Concepción Dueñas Viciedo, a 40-year-old resident of Sevillano, located in the Diez de Octubre municipality of Havana, has been missing for three days. Her family is urgently seeking help to find her.

This past Sunday, her sister, Giralda Dueñas Viciedo, made an urgent appeal on Facebook asking for any information that could lead to María Concepción's whereabouts: "Please, to all my friends and acquaintances, this is my sister María Concepción Dueñas, she has been missing since Thursday. If anyone has seen her or knows anything, please contact me."

In a conversation with CiberCuba, Giralda mentioned that the last known sighting of María Concepción was on the previous Thursday. Neighbors reported hearing her at home during a power outage affecting the area.

"The last time she was heard in the house, she was making noise with the goats during a major blackout, and since that day, no one has seen her," explained her sister, who lives outside of Cuba.

Neither her family nor the neighbors have any information on what she was wearing when she disappeared, as the last interaction was auditory rather than visual.

Concerning Signs of Domestic Violence

The situation raises red flags concerning potential domestic violence: María Concepción's boyfriend, identified as Lemay, has a history of previous assaults against her.

Giralda explained that despite these incidents, her sister remained in the relationship, which she attributed to María Concepción's moderate intellectual disability, making her susceptible to manipulation by him.

Challenges in the Search Amidst Power Crisis

The disappearance comes during an unprecedented electrical crisis in Cuba, with blackouts in Havana lasting over 20 hours daily, complicating immediate search efforts.

With no updates on María Concepción's condition, friends and neighbors approached the police. The authorities suggested they break into her home to check if she was inside.

This Sunday, neighbors forced entry into the house, confirming she was not there, Giralda reported.

Giralda plans to file another formal report with the authorities and urges anyone with information to reach out via phone at +1 813 4936665 or through her Facebook profile.

The police response to María Concepción's disappearance highlights a recurring pattern of delayed institutional action in similar cases across the country.

Recent Cases Reflect a Disturbing Trend

In recent years, Havana has seen numerous cases of missing women, some involving mental health conditions as an aggravating factor. These include the recent discovery of a young mother and a woman with schizophrenia missing last year.
