On Sunday, Cuban-American Republican Congressman Carlos A. Giménez issued a stern warning to Venezuelan leader Diosdado Cabello Rondón following the confirmed extradition of Alex Saab to the United States: "Diosdado, you're next."
In the early hours of Sunday, Giménez posted two messages on his X account. His first message read: "Thanks to President Trump and Secretary Rubio, the interim dictator Delcy Rodríguez has handed over the narcoterrorist criminal Alex Saab to face justice in the United States. Diosdado Cabello should be next!" He included the hashtag #SOSVenezuela.
Shortly afterward, the congressman followed up with an even more direct message: "Diosdado, you're next!" This was accompanied by the official reward poster from the State Department and the DEA targeting Cabello Rondón.
The poster offers up to $25 million for information leading to the arrest and/or conviction of Cabello, who is accused of conspiracy to commit narcoterrorism, conspiracy to import cocaine, and conspiracy to use and carry machine guns and destructive devices in drug-related crimes.
According to UHN Plus, Giménez also cautioned, "Now that Delcy sends us Alex Saab, Diosdado is next. We will then go after her. Time is running out," thus implicating interim Venezuelan President Delcy Rodríguez as a future target of U.S. pressure.
Increased Bounty on Cabello
The reward for Cabello was first announced in March 2020 at $10 million and was increased to $25 million in January 2025, when the Southern District of New York formally charged him with coordinating with the FARC to transport cocaine shipments to the United States.
Saab's extradition was confirmed on Saturday night when a U.S.-registered Gulfstream aircraft landed around 9:00 pm at the Opa-locka Executive Airport in Miami-Dade County, Florida, with Saab escorted by DEA federal agents.
Rodríguez authorized Saab's handover as part of negotiations between Washington and the interim government in Caracas, which emerged following the capture of Nicolás Maduro on January 3, 2026.
The Venezuelan SAIME confirmed the extradition in a statement, indicating that Saab "is involved in committing various crimes in the United States of America."
Previous Encounters with U.S. Justice
This marks the second time Saab has faced U.S. justice. In December 2023, then-President Joe Biden included him in a prisoner swap with Venezuela—without a prior conviction—in exchange for the release of 10 American citizens, a decision that drew significant criticism from Republican lawmakers.
On April 11, Giménez had publicly demanded that Rodríguez hand over Cabello to the United States, sharing the same $25 million reward poster.
Congresswoman María Elvira Salazar also responded to Saab's extradition on Sunday, stating, "The era of impunity for narco-dictators, their frontmen, and their accomplices is collapsing in the Americas."
