Journalist Whit Johnson highlighted that Rodríguez Parrilla "never answered" what would happen if Cubans could freely vote. Meanwhile, organizations like Prisoners Defenders documented 1,260 political prisoners in April 2026, a historic high that includes 35 minors and 142 women.

Facing Repression
Since their inception, the group has faced systematic repression. In March, MININT agents threatened Amanda and Abel's father at his workplace. Amílcar Andrés Bravo was pressured to resign and then "regulated," meaning he was banned from traveling. He publicly denounced the reprisals against his family.
On April 25, Karel Daniel's mother was summoned on short notice to the National Revolutionary Police in Cerro. The following day, Karel Daniel announced in a video that they were warned of arrest if they continued posting.
International Support
Despite the pressure, Fuera de la Caja has garnered international support. Last Thursday, Mike Hammer, the head of the U.S. Embassy mission in Cuba, met with the group and influencer Anna Bensi, who has been under house arrest with her mother since March 26.
