This weekend, the 27th edition of Cuba Nostalgia makes its way back to Miami, drawing thousands of Cubans and Cuban-Americans together to celebrate the vibrant music, culture, and traditions of the island.

The festival is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday at the Miami-Dade County Fair & Exposition Center, located at the intersection of 112th Avenue and Coral Way in the Tamiami area.

Recognized as the largest Cuban cultural festival in the United States, the event attracts over 25,000 attendees annually. Visitors can enjoy complimentary concerts, live music, art displays, shopping, food, and beverages. Today's festivities run from 11:00 am to 11:59 pm, and Sunday from 11:00 am to 10:00 pm. Tickets are priced at $25 per person, and the event welcomes all ages.

This year's lineup features renowned artists and emerging talents such as Willy Chirino, Aymée Nuviola, Lena Burke, Malena Burke, Brenda Navarrete, Iván Camejo, Amaury Gutiérrez, El Niño y La Verdad, and newcomer Ronkalunga.

Honoring a Musical Icon

In this edition, a special tribute is dedicated to Willy Chirino, showcasing memorabilia from his five-decade career. Chirino is celebrated as a pioneer of the "Miami Sound" and a symbol of Cuban exile.

Marking his debut at Cuba Nostalgia, Ronkalunga expressed the significance of the occasion: "It's incredibly special for me to be part of this event... it's my first time stepping out as an ambassador of traditional Cuban music," he stated to Telemundo 51.

Bringing Havana to Miami

The event will also recreate iconic Havana spots such as El Floridita, La Bodeguita del Medio, El Paseo del Prado, and the Tropicana cabaret, allowing attendees to experience a Cuba that lives in their memories or family heritage.

As always, a touching moment will be the faith space featuring a replica of Havana's Cathedral, where visitors can offer prayers to the Virgin of Charity of El Cobre, Cuba's patron saint.

The official poster for this edition was designed by Vic García, a young Miami-born artist with deep Cuban roots: "I am Cuban, it's in my blood… and this is a lifelong honor for me," he expressed.

A Community United

Singer Lena Burke, a long-time participant in the festival, captured the essence of the event: "We'll be with family… we've been singing there for years, what an honor."

The political aspect continues to be a staple of Cuba Nostalgia. Peter Regalado, the director and organizer of the event—founded by his father nearly 27 years ago—shared his aspiration "to have the honor of making the 28th edition in Havana."

Aymée Nuviola echoed this sentiment: "I believe we Cubans are so hopeful… we're going to project that desire for Cuba's freedom."

Songwriter Amaury Gutiérrez added a poignant note on the current situation in Cuba: "This year will be special because interesting things are about to happen in Cuba… good things for the people who have suffered so much."
