Esteemed Cuban actress Verónica Lynn graced Cuban television once again this Thursday, appearing on the show Al Mediodía to mark her 95th birthday. The special tribute was a heartfelt celebration, filled with art, memories, and emotions.

The event gathered renowned figures from the national artistic scene, who shared stories and praises about Lynn's illustrious career. Among those honoring her were Fernando Hechavarría, recipient of the 2026 National Theater Award, actor Héctor Noas, and actresses Paula Alí and Diana Rosa Suárez.

"Everything she touches turns into gold," Hechavarría remarked during the program, with Noas adding that "there is a profound truth in everything she does, and her scenes are master classes."

Born on May 7, 1931, Verónica Lynn boasts a career spanning more than seventy years across theater, film, television, and radio. She first appeared at the age of 23 on the live show Teatro Azul, directed by Gaspar Pumarejo at Studio 4 of Cuban television.

Lynn is particularly remembered for two iconic roles: Santa Camila in Santa Camila de La Habana Vieja (1961/1962), which critics still deem unparalleled, and Doña Teresa, the villainous landowner in the soap opera Sol de batey (1985), a role that endeared her to generations of viewers.

At 95, Lynn remains active in the theater scene. In 2025, she starred in Un domingo llamado Deseo, a play written and directed by Norge Espinosa, at El Sótano theater in El Vedado, Havana.

Celebrating her birthday through artistic endeavors has become a tradition for Lynn. In 2023, she marked her 92nd birthday performing in Frijoles colorados at the same venue.

As part of her anniversary celebrations, the Charles Chaplin cinema in El Vedado is premiering the documentary Muchos domingos para Verónica today. Directed by Pedro Maytín with a script by Norge Espinosa and Maytín himself, the 45-minute film was produced by the Agency of Artistic Representations Caricatos and the National Council of Performing Arts.

This documentary is not a conventional biography but rather a collective portrait that weaves the actress's voice with memories from colleagues, critics, and friends, including footage from rehearsals and performances of Un domingo llamado Deseo.

Verónica Lynn was honored with the National Theater Award in 2003 and the National Television Award in 2005, receiving numerous accolades throughout her extensive career.

Summing up her legacy, Lynn proudly states, "Being an actress is one thing, but being an artist is another. I say this with pride, Verónica Lynn is an artist."
