PM Revuelta, an online user, took to Facebook to share a heart-wrenching account of the savage assault her brother endured at the hands of a gang of criminals 17 days ago. She described the incident as a premeditated attempted murder.
Revuelta detailed that her brother, who suffers from a complex mental illness, was viciously beaten with barbed-wire-wrapped bats after he confronted a neighborhood swindler who had defrauded numerous residents with impunity.
"Seventeen days ago, my brother was the target of an attempted murder, for nothing. They attacked him with bats, with all the premeditation in the world, using barbed wire to inflict irreversible injuries that have resulted in two surgeries, the loss of an organ, and damage to others," Revuelta wrote in her post.

"What was his mistake? Speaking out against a despicable person who had swindled many in the neighborhood with impunity," the activist expressed, outraged by the violence unleashed on someone who merely sought to protect his community.
Revuelta describes her brother as a beloved individual, known for his good social conduct and helpful nature towards the less fortunate, which makes the assault even more heartbreaking.
"For 17 days, my community has been shaken, my life shattered, and this young man has bravely fought to keep breathing," she shared.
This incident occurs amid an unprecedented public security crisis in Cuba. The Cuban Citizen Audit Observatory (OCAC) recorded 2,833 verified crimes in 2025, marking a 115% increase from 2024 and a 337% rise compared to 2023.
Havana ranked as the third most affected province, with 398 reported cases. The Cuban police, facing a 20% attrition rate, are routinely criticized for prioritizing political repression over citizen protection.
This systemic impunity has led to extreme situations: a young Cuban lost a hand during a confrontation with thieves on a public street, and residents are forced to fend off criminals themselves due to the State's inaction.
PM Revuelta is no stranger to regime repression. About six months ago, the State Security shut down her social media accounts as she was transporting over two tons of humanitarian aid to Santiago de Cuba, prompting her to create an alternative account.
"Six months ago, the State Security closed my networks as I was leaving with more than two tons of humanitarian aid for Santiago, which was delivered directly to the people, a people fed up and victimized by a system that prefers to pursue those of us who take a stand," she denounced.
Now, amid her family's nightmare, the activist reports new hacking attempts and deletion threats on her Facebook profile, which she attributes to State agents.
Despite the pain, the day before her post, she delivered solar panels and electric generators to seven children suffering from leukemia, cerebral palsy, and other severe conditions that require electricity for survival.
"I don't even know where I found the strength to keep thinking and striving for human betterment when, for 17 days, everything has been a painful and dark nightmare," she confessed.
Her post concludes with a phrase that encapsulates the outrage of countless Cubans trapped between criminal violence and State inaction: "Bravery shouldn't come at such a high price!"
