Maura Vázquez, the mother of missing woman Doraiky Águila Vázquez, clarified on Sunday the misinformation spread by the Facebook page SuenaCuba, which falsely claimed her daughter had been located in El Vedado, Havana.
"She has not been found," stated Maura Vázquez in a publicly shared chat message.
SuenaCuba had reported that Doraiky was seen on 20th Street in Vedado, between 15th and 17th streets, on the first floor of a building with a gated porch and a red car parked outside, and that the family had been notified to confirm her identity. The post quickly went viral on social media.
However, Maura Vázquez visited the location and conducted a thorough search, but her daughter was nowhere to be found.
Efforts to reach the individual who initially provided the information to SuenaCuba also proved futile.
"We are searching intensely, whoever knows where she is, please contact us. The person who said it didn't disclose the source. She has not been found," Maura wrote in a message that was captured and shared by José E. González Marín, who is coordinating the case's dissemination on social media.
González Marín posted an official update on Facebook to quell the confusion: "We plead for maximum responsibility: do not spread unverified rumors. A family's pain is at stake."
Another user, Lara LP, also stepped in to clarify: "The information circulating on social media about Doralkys is not true, she has not been found." She attached a message from a friend of Doraiky's husband confirming: "I just spoke with the husband, and there is nothing certain about this, I wish it were true."
This is not the first instance of misinformation surrounding the case. In October 2025, a rumor claimed Doraiky had been found deceased, which was promptly debunked by the family member Damnielle Días Fernández.
Doraiky, aged 48, originally from the Lawton neighborhood in the Diez de Octubre municipality, disappeared on March 15, 2025, during a widespread blackout in Havana.
She was last seen on the Calzada de 10 de Octubre, wearing a long yellow dress with red flowers and black sandals. She suffers from transient memory loss, a condition that heightens her vulnerability.
Since then, Maura Vázquez—a retired nurse with 43 years of experience—has led a relentless search for her daughter.
In November 2025, she traveled to the National Shrine of San Lázaro in El Rincón with a photo of her daughter pinned to her chest, seeking faith and hope.
In July 2025, the family offered a reward of 350,000 Cuban pesos for accurate information about Doraiky's whereabouts.
A report was filed with the National Revolutionary Police, with registration number 19434.
The Cuban authorities have not issued official statements nor reported progress in the investigation for more than 13 months, a lack of action that the family has publicly criticized from the outset.
"Daughter of my heart, we are searching for you and we will find you... your family and an entire town are looking for you," Maura Vázquez wrote on Facebook in December 2025, a plea that encapsulates more than a year of unanswered anguish.
