Recently released 911 calls reveal the frantic distress of relatives of Nancy Metayer Bowen, the vice mayor of Coral Springs, Florida. She was allegedly shot and killed by her husband, Stephen Bowen, aged 40, on a Tuesday night.

The 911 recordings capture the urgency in a woman's voice as she pleads for immediate police intervention: "I'm calling to report a potential crime in Coral Springs."

Another family member, in one of the disclosed calls, insists, "Tell them to break down the door by any means necessary."

In an additional call, Bowen's uncle recounts, "My nephew, her husband, came to my house this morning and confessed he did something to her."

Nancy Metayer Bowen, 38, was found deceased on Wednesday around 10 a.m. at her home located in the 800 block of Northwest 127th Avenue. Colleagues had alerted the police after noticing her absence from several scheduled meetings that day.

The arrest report details that Stephen Bowen allegedly fired three shotgun rounds using a pillow as an improvised silencer. After the tragic event, he reportedly slept on the first floor of the home, later wrapping his wife's body in blankets and black trash bags, leaving her in the master bedroom. He was eventually apprehended after handing over a suitcase containing the shotgun.

Metayer Bowen was notably the first Black and Haitian-American woman elected to this position in the city, leaving the political community in Florida heartbroken by her untimely death.

Stephen Bowen is currently held in jail, facing charges of premeditated murder and evidence tampering.
