The family of Ledián Padrón Guevara, one of the five individuals killed in an armed confrontation off the coast of Corralillo, Villa Clara, has voiced their outrage over being denied the chance to bid farewell to their loved one. The authorities' decision to cremate his body forced the family to hold a funeral without his remains.

Activist Niurka Préstamo revealed this situation in a social media post, sharing images of the memorial service held in the young man's absence. The modest altar erected in his honor displayed only two photographs of Ledián, surrounded by flowers, candles, and an urn, amidst an atmosphere of profound sorrow among family and friends.

Préstamo expressed, "This was the manner in which Ledián Padrón's funeral took place—one of those slain in the ambush and massacre involving the boat at Corralillo. A funeral without a body, as the regime had ordered the cremation, apparently to obscure evidence."

The incident has sparked outrage among those close to the family, who feel that the cremation prevented a dignified farewell and obscured the true circumstances of his death.

At 25, Padrón Guevara was the youngest of four men who lost their lives during the February 25 incident off Cayo Falcones, when a boat from Florida was intercepted by Cuban Border Guard units. The others killed were Pavel Alling Peña, Michael Ortega Casanova, and Héctor Duani Cruz Correa.

The Ministry of the Interior labeled the event an "armed infiltration with terrorist intentions," stating that a shootout ensued, resulting in four deaths and six arrests.

However, days later, Roberto Álvarez, one of the survivors, passed away in the hospital, raising the death toll to five. Journalist Daniel Benítez reported that Álvarez had been moved from intensive care in Villa Clara to a hospital in Havana, where he suffered a hemorrhage followed by a heart attack, as conveyed to his family.

Ledián Padrón, originally from Camagüey, had lived between Houston and Miami. According to accounts cited by journalist Javier Díaz of Univision 23, the young man had recently relocated to South Florida and was allegedly engaged in training related to a potential action against the Cuban regime.

Initially, his name was omitted from the official list provided by Cuban authorities, causing uncertainty among his relatives. Eventually, he was confirmed among those killed in the confrontation.
