A Cuban migrant living in Dallas, Texas, recently took to social media to warn about the perils of attending U.S. immigration court hearings without legal representation. This cautionary message followed a judge's decision to issue her a deportation order during her second appearance.
In a TikTok video, the woman recounted attending the hearing on May 5th without an attorney, which resulted in the court ordering her deportation to Ecuador.
"Today was my second court appearance. I did not have legal representation, and they simply issued a deportation order to Ecuador," she stated in the video.
She noted that on the same day, she observed other individuals with legal counsel being granted a new date to continue their immigration proceedings.
"Everyone with an attorney received a new date for a third hearing. Those without legal representation were just handed deportation orders," she asserted.
The migrant further explained that following the judge's ruling, she has a 30-day window to appeal the decision or leave the country.

"My advice is to get a lawyer and do not go alone. That's why lawyers exist, to defend your case," she urged.
