"Lester Hamlet is recovering from open-heart surgery after two heart attacks. The surgery was successful, but he will need several months without the ability to work," Capote wrote while sharing the call for assistance.
According to the campaign posted on the GoFundMe platform, doctors performed a double coronary bypass surgery due to the urgent need for the procedure.

Doctors advised that Hamlet should refrain from working for at least three months, with a full recovery possibly taking six to eight months before he can resume his normal activities.

The campaign was initiated by friends and close associates of the filmmaker to help cover these needs during his recovery.

The initiative aims to raise $25,000. So far, it has garnered $3,645 through 46 donations.
