Monday, March 2, 2026 by Aaron Delgado

On Saturday, Cuban authorities detained ten Panamanian citizens, accusing them of engaging in "subversive propaganda."

The announcement was made public this Monday by Yuniasky Crespo Baquero, head of the Ideological Department of the Central Committee, who shared a statement from the Ministry of the Interior on her social media. The statement was later officially confirmed.

According to the note, "On February 28, 2026, ten Panamanian nationals, residing in Panama, were arrested as perpetrators of propaganda acts against the constitutional order, as outlined in Article 124 of the Penal Code."

The detained individuals were allegedly instructed to enter Cuba with the aim of creating signs with subversive content, opposing the constitutional framework.

"Once their mission was completed, they were to leave the country and receive a monetary payment upon their return to Panama, an amount reportedly ranging between one thousand and fifteen hundred dollars for each individual," the statement elaborates.

"Since their arrest, those involved have confessed to being the authors of such acts, which took place in the capital during the early hours of Saturday, February 28. Investigations are ongoing," the statement concludes.

Anti-Government Signs Emerge Amidst Political Tensions

This past weekend, anti-government signs were spotted in Boyeros and Jaimanitas, Havana, coinciding with heightened anticipation following recent statements by Donald Trump.

These signs, marked with the initials CDPC, are attributed to the opposition group "Camino a la Democracia Pacífica de Cuba" (CDPC). They include slogans opposing communism, criticizing the tyranny, and expressing support for Trump.

One sign, discovered on a wall in Boyeros, declared, "We trust in Donald Trump, Marco Rubio, and Mike Hammer," according to images shared by Yamila La Hija de Maceo on her X account.

Additionally, journalist Mario J. Pentón confirmed the presence of several signs with anti-regime slogans such as "Down with tyranny" in the town of Jaimanitas, located on Havana's far western edge.

Cubans continue to voice their dissatisfaction with the government through signs across the island, stated the journalist, who shared a video of a local resident noting that the community "woke up in turmoil," with signs appearing in multiple locations.
