The Cuban government has called upon the United Nations Security Council to take immediate action to halt the military actions of the United States and Israel against Iran to prevent further escalation in the Middle East.

In an official statement, Cuba's Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemned the attacks that resulted in the death of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, arguing that they violate Iran's sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as the UN Charter and International Law.

Havana described the military action as an "irresponsible and deliberate" aggression, asserting that it undermines diplomatic efforts related to Iran's nuclear issue.

The statement highlighted that the offensive severely threatens regional and international peace, stability, and security.

The Cuban government claimed that the attacks have resulted in an unspecified number of civilian casualties, including children, and warned of the potential for escalation driven by hegemonic interests, which could draw other countries in the region into unpredictable consequences.

In its announcement, the Cuban government urged the Security Council to fulfill its primary responsibility of maintaining international peace and security.

Furthermore, it called on the UN General Assembly to mobilize the international community to urgently restore peace with determination.

The statement also emphasized the importance of adhering to International Law principles, particularly the sovereign equality of states, non-interference in internal affairs, prohibition of the use or threat of force, and the peaceful resolution of disputes.

The Cuban regime's stance, as a diplomatic ally of the Iranian regime, comes amid heightened tensions in the Middle East following the joint military offensive by the United States and Israel against targets in Iran, an operation that has intensified the regional conflict and prompted international reactions within the UN Security Council.

Cuban leader Miguel Díaz-Canel responded on Saturday to the joint bombing by Israel and the United States against Iran with a strong condemnation of the military operation.

Through the social media platform X, he described the events as a "flagrant violation of International Law and the UN Charter."

Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla stated: "Cuba condemns today's attacks on February 28 by Israel and the United States against Iran, violating its sovereignty and territorial integrity, occurring for the second time amidst ongoing nuclear discussions."
