A 45-year-old Cuban national was detained in Mexico City after being caught inside a home, allegedly trying to make off with eight pairs of leather boots, according to local media reports.

The incident took place in the Ampliación Penitenciaría neighborhood, within the Venustiano Carranza district. Residents alerted city police about a burglary in progress at the intersection of Ferrocarril Interoceánico and Tapicería streets, as reported by Excélsior.

The official report stated that the homeowner informed officers about an unauthorized entry by a man attempting to steal multiple items from his property.

With the homeowner's permission, officers entered the premises and found the suspect still inside. During a precautionary search, they discovered a black bag containing eight pairs of leather boots, valued at approximately 20,000 Mexican pesos.

The man was arrested on site, informed of his rights, and taken to the Public Prosecutor's Office along with the recovered goods. This authority will decide his legal status and initiate the appropriate investigation, added La Prensa.
