Spanish Traveler Embarks on Solo Journey to Crisis-Stricken Cuba and Declares: "Nothing Compares to This"

A young woman from Spain, who gained viral attention after announcing her solo trip to Cuba, has arrived on the island and shared her initial thoughts after three days. So far, her excitement seems unwavering.

"I've been in Cuba for three days, and it's the best decision I've ever made," begins Laura (@lauramonntana on TikTok) in her latest video. Clearly moved, she describes Cuba as a place brimming with life, noise, and a constant stream of music. "There's never a quiet moment. Music everywhere. It's a different vibe. This is something else," she asserts while displaying street scenes from a balcony.

Laura particularly emphasizes the friendliness of the people. "The people are super nice. Everyone smiles at you," she notes, although she observes the scarcity of tourists where she is staying. "Many people approach you out of curiosity or to ask for something," she explains, seeming unbothered by the attention.

One of the aspects that has struck her most is the close-knit community among neighbors. "You step out onto the balcony, and the neighbor across the street greets you. This doesn’t happen in Spain. In my world, there's a lot of individualism. Here, people talk and smile," she reflects.

Laura is adamant that her journey is not about the typical tourist experience. "I've come to live the Cuban experience, not to stay in a hotel," she states. She also mentioned enrolling in salsa classes and relishing every moment. "I'm fascinated by everything I see and hear. I constantly want to talk to people and learn from them," she says.

Concluding her initial impressions, she expresses conviction in her choice: "I'm very happy and proud of myself. There's nothing quite like this."
