Trump Plans Visit to Venezuela, Date Still Uncertain

Saturday, February 14, 2026 by Alexander Flores

President Donald Trump of the United States hinted at a possible trip to Venezuela during a brief video exchange shared by the Rapid Response account.

When asked directly, "When do you plan to visit Venezuela?" Trump replied, "I will visit Venezuela," without announcing any specific date or confirming travel plans to the South American country.

During the same conversation on Friday, Trump paused to ask the person he was speaking with, "Where are you from?" The person replied, "I am from Colombia." Trump then simply added, "We had a good meeting," without elaborating further.

Trump also made comments regarding bilateral relations and the oil industry, stating that the U.S. has "a very good relationship with the president of Venezuela" and that "our big oil companies are moving in" to extract and sell oil, with part of the revenue benefiting Venezuela.

When questioned about recognizing the government led by Delcy Rodríguez as the official government of Venezuela, Trump asserted, "We already have."

A journalist raised the issue of a potential attack on Mexico, Colombia, and Venezuela, which Trump dismissed.

The question was, "Are you considering launching ground attacks against Mexico, Colombia, and Venezuela?" to which Trump responded, "Don't worry about that."

Following the capture of Nicolás Maduro and the rise of Delcy Rodríguez as interim president of Venezuela, the relationship between Washington and Caracas took an unexpected turn.

In January, Trump confirmed from the White House that he had a "long and excellent" phone conversation with Rodríguez, whom he described as a "fantastic person."

In that communication, both leaders discussed energy, trade, and security matters, and the U.S. president praised the new climate of cooperation.

Trump assured that the bilateral relationship is "going very well" and highlighted the shipment of 50 million barrels of oil to the United States as part of an agreement overseen by his administration.

The exchange between the two leaders indicated a period of easing in U.S. policy toward Venezuela, marked by a mix of economic pragmatism and political oversight.
