Donald Trump, the President of the United States, is set to head a summit on March 7 in Miami with leaders from six Latin American nations. This announcement was confirmed by a White House official.

The summit will feature prominent figures such as Javier Milei from Argentina, Rodrigo Paz of Bolivia, Daniel Noboa representing Ecuador, Nayib Bukele from El Salvador, Nasry Asfura of Honduras, and Santiago Peña from Paraguay.

This meeting was organized by Trump approximately six weeks after he issued an order to apprehend Nicolás Maduro. The White House has leveraged this operation to bolster what Trump describes as a reinterpretation of the Monroe Doctrine in Latin America.

According to Washington, this reinterpretation is a key component of the administration's revised national security strategy. The strategy aims to dismantle narcotic organizations operating within Latin America and curb China's expanding influence in the area.

Since regaining office in January 2025, Trump has forged closer ties with Milei and Bukele, particularly in economic and migration matters.

Both Noboa's and Peña's administrations have openly supported U.S. policies in the region. Trump also extended his support to Asfura during the recent elections in Honduras.

Moreover, with Rodrigo Paz assuming leadership in Bolivia, the cooperation between the Bolivian government and Washington has strengthened significantly.
