The 34th Havana International Book Fair, initially scheduled for February 12-22, has been postponed.

The event has been delayed due to what is described as an "extraordinary situation" in Cuba, attributed to the "genocidal blockade" imposed by the United States government. According to an official statement from the Cuban Book Institute, the recent escalation of economic pressures aims to suffocate the Cuban people and dismantle the Revolution.

The new dates for this significant cultural event will be announced in due course, the statement added.

On Friday, the Cuban regime unveiled a series of measures in response to the ongoing energy crisis and the official call for austerity following sanctions imposed by the Trump Administration.

The statement explains that the reduction is directly linked to current fuel availability: "Without sufficient fuel, we cannot maintain the previous levels of sales," stated Oscar Pérez-Oliva Fraga, Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment, during the state-run Mesa Redonda program.

The measures include restricting fuel purchases for Cubans, drastically reducing national train services, and limiting worker transportation, with priority given to critical sectors such as healthcare, ports, and airports.
