The Frank País García International Airport in Holguín welcomed its fourth shipment of humanitarian aid from the United States this Friday, intended to assist families impacted by Hurricane Melissa in the Bayamo-Manzanillo diocese.

This air delivery included 588 food kits and 585 hygiene kits, generously donated by the American people. The shipment was accompanied by priests from the Archdiocese of Miami, Esney Muñoz and Elvis Antonio González.

The aid is designated for communities in Cauto Cristo, situated in Granma province, according to the Communication team of the organization Cáritas Cuba, which is part of the Catholic Church.

As reported by the source, distribution will be carried out gradually through a network comprised of volunteers, parish teams, diocesan structures, and local religious orders.

Beneficiaries are selected based on vulnerability criteria, prioritizing single mothers with young children, the elderly, individuals with disabilities, and those with limited or no mobility.

The organization emphasized that this delivery continues to strengthen its humanitarian response in eastern Cuba, supporting affected families while highlighting the protection of the dignity of the most vulnerable individuals.

This fourth flight follows a series of shipments that began from Florida after Hurricane Melissa's devastating impact.

On Wednesday, Santiago de Cuba's international airport received the third shipment, containing 648 food kits and 510 hygiene kits, aimed at assisting affected communities in the province. Representatives from the Archdiocese of Miami and Catholic Relief Services accompanied this delivery.

The initial shipment arrived on January 14 at Holguín Airport, bringing 528 food kits and 660 hygiene kits, along with water treatment supplies, for severely affected communities like Cacocum.

A second flight landed on January 16 in Santiago de Cuba, delivering similar supplies distributed among various dioceses in the east.

In November, the Trump administration announced a $3 million allocation in humanitarian aid for Cubans suffering from the effects of Hurricane Melissa, which struck several eastern provinces with great force on October 28.
