Dariel Pérez Camue, a 14-year-old boy, tragically lost his life to electrocution under mysterious circumstances in San Luis, Santiago de Cuba. The incident is currently under investigation by local authorities.
Journalist Yosvany Mayeta Labrada reported that the event took place on Thursday afternoon between 4:30 and 5:00 p.m. at a poultry farm known as El Hormiguero, located in the upper area of Dos Caminos town.
According to a source consulted by Mayeta Labrada, the teenager was allegedly brought to the location by a cousin who was aware of the presence of electrical current in the area.
"Reports suggest the minor was instructed to climb an electric pole, being handed a tool, and was lifted to reach the wires when a high-voltage shock ended his life," the journalist explained.
Additionally, it was noted that, "even though the site has been inactive for some time, it remains under guard, a detail that raises more questions than answers today."
Mayeta points out that three or four individuals were present with the teenager and abandoned him after his death, "leaving the body without immediately notifying the authorities, causing grief, anger, and outrage among family and neighbors."
The official confirmation of these circumstances has not yet been provided, and the investigation is expected to shed light on the matter, Mayeta clarified.
"Dariel lived in Morón de Palencia, part of the Songo La Maya area. He was a beloved child and would have celebrated his 15th birthday on the 27th of this month. His father is in despair, while the family and community demand truth and justice," he added.
Mayeta believes this tragedy raises numerous questions that the authorities must address: "How did a child gain access to a guarded facility? Who allowed or facilitated his exposure to a known risk? Was there negligence, exploitation, or cover-up involved? What responsibilities do the adults present and the site’s guards bear? Why is there still no clear official information?"
