A tragic road accident on January 13 claimed the life of a 50-year-old Cuban man in Alicante province, once again shaking the Cuban migrant community in Spain and weaving a tale of sorrow far from their homeland.

The accident occurred during the evening, around 6:14 p.m., on the CV-755 highway, near the municipality of Callosa d’en Sarrià. According to the sources from the Civil Guard, reported by El Español, the man was riding a motorcycle when he collided head-on with a van at the 14.7-kilometer mark of the road.

Authorities confirmed the deceased was of Cuban descent, though his identity remains undisclosed. The van's driver, a 60-year-old Spanish man, emerged unscathed from the crash, as reported by Todo Alicante.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the motorcycle may have veered into the opposite lane on a curve, which likely led to the collision.

Emergency responders, including a unit from the Emergency Medical Assistance Service (SAMU) and a Basic Life Support ambulance, rushed to the scene.

Medical personnel attempted advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation and stabilization techniques for several minutes to revive the motorcyclist, but unfortunately, he did not respond, and his death was confirmed, as stated by sources from the Emergency Information and Coordination Center cited by local media.

The incident has deeply affected the community, reigniting the grief experienced by many families within the diaspora, where the pursuit of a better life abroad sometimes ends in unforeseen tragedy.
