A Cuban man recently shared in a TikTok video that he left the United States on his own accord following the stricter immigration policies implemented during Donald Trump's administration. He revealed that upon trying to return, his home country of Cuba refused him entry, leaving him with no choice but to settle in Mexico.
Identified on TikTok as @elpesao24, the young man explained his voluntary departure from the U.S., although he admitted that the tightening of immigration laws played a significant role in his decision.
"Everyone keeps asking: you left the United States, so where are you now? Well, it's been almost three months since that happened. Let me tell you, I wasn't deported; I chose to leave voluntarily," he stated in the video.
He remarked that since Donald Trump took office, there has been considerable upheaval regarding immigration policies, resulting in the deportation of those without proper documentation.
"With Trump's presidency, there was a lot of commotion over immigration. People without their papers in order are being sent back to their countries," he asserted.
Currently residing in Mexico since October, he mentioned that Cuba did not receive him as a citizen when he attempted to return. "I was given the option to go to Mexico, so that's where I went. If it were up to me, I would have gone to Uruguay, a country I know well and where I have many friends," he explained.
