Ferrer Denies Property Purchase in the U.S.: "My Focus is Fighting Tyranny and Its Lackeys"

Wednesday, December 31, 2025 by Oscar Fernandez

Cuban opposition figure José Daniel Ferrer, who arrived in the United States in October, has publicly refuted claims that he bought a farm or ranch in the country. He clarified that the car he drives was a gift, not a purchase he made.

These statements were made after several social media profiles circulated reports falsely attributing property purchases to Ferrer following his departure from Cuba.

In a video shared on digital platforms, Ferrer emphasized that his main focus is not on business ventures or acquiring material possessions. Instead, he is dedicating all his time to political activism.

"My time is for fighting against tyranny and its lackeys," he stated, highlighting that he has no interest in buying a farm now or in the foreseeable future.

Support for Fellow Cubans

Ferrer elaborated that while he does not criticize Cubans who manage to thrive in the U.S. and buy properties through hard work, he takes joy in the success of those he views as decent, patriotic, and committed to freedom and democracy. He cited Eliécer Ávila and Alexander Otaola as examples, viewing their achievements as shared victories.

Conversely, Ferrer condemned those who, in his opinion, benefit from the Cuban power structure or engage in business with the island's government, asserting that their wealth is derived from the suffering of an "exploited, repressed, and oppressed" population.

Commitment to Activism

Ferrer explained that he has not bought any property for two key reasons: he has only been in the U.S. for about two and a half months, and he lacks the resources. More importantly, he has no desire to buy property, as maintaining it would require time he cannot spare.

His days are fully committed to activism, defending political prisoners, and coordinating efforts inside and outside Cuba to advance the fight for freedom, democracy, and human rights.

He made it clear that his move to the U.S. was not for business or property accumulation but to bolster the fight from exile, drawing a parallel with the mambises who sought resources outside the island during the 1868 war to support the independence cause.

On Personal Assets and Allegations

At 55, Ferrer stressed that the dire state of the country leaves no room to split his time between economic activities and political action, as "the fatherland is dying, the homeland is sinking, the nation is collapsing."

Regarding the car he drives, Ferrer specified it is a 2015 Chrysler, gifted by Juan Carlos Fernández of Ferco Motors. He met Fernández through Eliécer Ávila and expressed his gratitude in a previous video, although he acknowledges that some misunderstood the message.

He pointed out that the vehicle is a necessity rather than a luxury, dismissing claims that it was a personal purchase.

Ferrer lamented the "lies, mockery, and deceit" campaigns spread by individuals he believes are motivated by envy or allegiance to the Cuban government. He asserted that truth will ultimately prevail over misinformation and reiterated that his life in the United States is solely oriented towards strengthening the fight for Cuba's freedom and supporting political prisoners and their families.
