The main entrance doors, along with their frames, of a 26-story building near Camagüey's Plaza de la Revolución Ignacio Agramonte, were stolen overnight, leaving the entryway completely exposed. This building is home to hundreds of residents.

Journalist José Luis Tan Estrada reported the incident on Facebook, stating that the theft occurred during the night, and as of now, no suspects have been identified.

This theft leaves the building vulnerable and exacerbates existing issues such as basic service failures, structural decay, and neglect. It's a stark reminder of the challenges already faced by the community.

Throughout various provinces in Cuba, there has been an alarming rise in vandalism and theft, with construction materials like doors, frames, cables, grates, and metal parts increasingly being stolen.

For many locals, these incidents are directly tied to Cuba's severe economic and social crisis, which has driven some individuals to desperate measures. Meanwhile, state institutions have shown limited capacity to prevent or address such crimes.

In this particular case, besides the material loss, residents point out that the theft jeopardizes the daily security of hundreds of families, as the building's access remains unguarded.

So far, there has been no official statement from the police authorities, nor has it been confirmed whether a formal investigation is underway. This lack of response is typical in a nation entrenched in misfortune.
