In recent developments, U.S. immigration authorities have apprehended two Cuban nationals with serious criminal histories in Florida and New Mexico, as reported by officials.

The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrested Julio Miguel González, an undocumented immigrant from Cuba, on Sunday. González has a criminal record for intentional homicide in Miami, Florida.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has identified González as one of the most dangerous illegal foreign offenders nationwide. In a statement released Monday, the DHS confirmed that González, along with other migrants convicted or accused of serious crimes, will face deportation from the United States.

In a separate incident, Border Patrol agents in Sunland Park, New Mexico, apprehended another Cuban national, registered as a sex offender, during an operation that concluded with the arrest of 10 undocumented migrants.

The U.S. Border Patrol (USBP) in the El Paso Sector announced via social media platform X on Tuesday that the agents apprehended the migrants after receiving a tip-off from the Department of Defense. They assured that all individuals would be processed for deportation.

The authorities have not disclosed the identity of the Cuban detained in this group nor provided details of his criminal activities.

These incidents add to a series of recent arrests of undocumented Cuban immigrants, which U.S. authorities have publicly highlighted as part of their intensified immigration enforcement actions against foreigners with criminal records.

More than 1,150 Cuban nationals are among those detained by ICE in their federal campaign, "Worst of the Worst," which the DHS promotes as a key initiative to capture and remove undocumented immigrants with criminal backgrounds, perceived as threats to American security.

The administration of former President Donald Trump has ramped up its stringent measures in its aggressive campaign against immigration. This effort not only targets the arrest and deportation of foreign criminals but also includes individuals at various stages of their immigration processes who have not committed any crimes.
