Cuban Content Creator Shares Honest Take on Christmas in Cuba: "You Nailed the Description"

Thursday, December 25, 2025 by Alexander Flores

The Cuban content creator known as Anaisy, or @anaisy_vlogs, has sparked a wave of responses on social media with her heartfelt message about celebrating Christmas in Cuba.

On December 24th, Anaisy shared a video contrasting the festive atmosphere enjoyed globally with the stark reality faced by Cubans.

"Today is December 24th, while the entire world revels in Christmas with stunning decorations and bright lights, Cuba seems frozen in time," she began.

According to her, "Christmas doesn't exist in Cuba unless someone decides to celebrate it behind closed doors. It's a country where Christmas lights are meaningless because we don't even have enough electricity to light our homes," she added.

Anaisy reflected on past times when, although Christmas wasn't an official tradition on the island, "there was no shortage of joy, good food, music, and family gatherings." However, she lamented that today, "the same atmosphere is missing."

"Families have shrunk because many have emigrated seeking a better future and to support those left behind with a decent meal on the table," she expressed. "And during this time, those abroad aren't entirely happy either, as they would give anything to spend these days with their loved ones."

The young creator summed up the current state of the country with a phrase that struck a chord in the comments: "On this December 24th, there's not much to celebrate in Cuba." She illustrated how many Cubans face Christmas Eve "with empty tables, during endless blackouts, using rechargeable lamps and candles for light."

She also mentioned those spending the holiday sick, "barely able to get out of bed," and others who, despite having a meal, "find little meaning in the celebration as they battle with internet connectivity to communicate with family."

Her straightforward yet powerful message captures the blend of sadness and resilience with which many Cubans face the holidays. Within hours, the video received numerous comments and reactions from users who resonated with her words.

"Thank you for expressing what we all feel," one follower wrote. "Sad, but true," commented another user.

In a season marked by nostalgia and separation, Anaisy's words encapsulate the feelings of thousands of Cubans.
